standard quay fisheries

Standard Quay Fisheries, based in Faversham, Kent, sell their wares from their base in Faversham, other outlets and also at "The Goods Shed" in Station Road, West, Canterbury.

We spoke to Simon of Standard Quay Fisheries at The Goods Shed itself. He explained the following to us:

"Our boat, the "Louise", heads out to sea and returns with a fresh catch each day, which is then prepared for the stall in "The Goods Shed" and other outlets. Virtually everything you see on our stall is the local catch of the day, with just a few exceptions.

"We prepare our own fish cakes and pies ourselves, so you can be sure they are as fresh as the fish you see here. Nothing but the more exotic varieties of fish, such as swordfish which comes from overseas of course, has been pre-frozen. With locally caught fish this fresh, there is no need."

Simon was as unreservedly enthusiastic about The Goods Shed (as were all the people running their own small businesses from within its high walls) as he was about his own business and the quality fish and prepared fish dishes he provides there.

(Please, as mentioned elsewhere on this web site, mention www.made-in-kent.co.uk as the place you discovered these quality producers.)
