For too long now, all we get in the media is the doom and gloom of manufacturing in decline.  In reality, manufacturing is undergoing a revolution.  What we need is the media to begin reporting on the fantastic work that manufacturing in Kent is doing.  There are many success stories from small workshops to large facilities, from low tech, to bleeding-edge technology.  It all happens here in Kent.  We just need it reported.

My own business (www.cantiumscientific.com) designs and manufactures scientifc instrument in Kent that are sold all around the world direct and through a network of distributors.  Our largest market is the Far East!  China cannot compete with us.  Yet we are only a small business with three people.  How do we do this?  By concentrating on what we do best: engineering.  We design the products and use quality manufacturers located throughout Kent to produce the goods.  Everything can be done in Kent.  We don't need China to make things for us.  It would cost us more to manufacture overseas and we'd lose on the prestige of Made in England on our products.
